WHAT IS AN AIR FILTER?

WHAT IS AN AIR FILTER?Air filters are used to keep the air in your home or office clean and to keep your furnace or air conditioner clean. Dirt from the air can clog your heat exchanger, or cause it to work double-time which can result in short-cycling or shutting down altogether.

As a filter gets clogged up with dust and debris it gets harder and harder for air to move through. This means your furnace or air conditioner has to work twice as hard to compensate for the reduction in airflow.

This leads to subpar heating or cooling and the temperature in your home can become inconsistent and inadequate. This also leads to unhealthy air. If your air filter is too full the dust and debris that are usually filtered out, will recirculate back into your home.

The most serious result of not keeping a consistent maintenance routine of changing your air filters can lead to a costly repair when your furnace fails. A dirty air filter can eventually cause internal damage that can result in a repair that will cost you thousands of dollars.
